Terence Faherty

As we enter a new century, I think mystery writers will continue to function — along with other genre writers — as the Irish monks of a literary dark age, preserving elements of well-plotted, entertaining fiction undervalued by mainstream authors and critics. More than the other genre writers, mystery authors will also be smugglers, slipping the moral values of the old century into the new one by creating fictional pockets of order and logic in which their detectives can function that may — quite coincidentally — also serve as examples and even beacons in what may be a disorderly, illogical time. It’s not just a job, you see, it’s a calling.

Terence Faherty is the author of seven mysteries featuring Owen Keane, most recently Orion Rising. He is also the author of two novels featuring private eye Scott Elliott.
